Kera Pinard- Co-Founder, Chair

I want to bring my stepson’s vision of having programs that allow all children the opportunity to explore the sport of fishing alive. On many Sundays, Shane, who called me Beba, would load his poles and gear into my truck, and I would bring him wherever he wanted to go to fish. I never fished, I would just bring a book, reality is, most of the time I never read the book; he kept me entertained just watching him. He was a natural. He never had a day that he did not catch multiple fish.

My son, Shane, always dreamed of beginning a program that would allow other children the privilege of learning how to fish. I co-founded this foundation with Kera in honor of that dream. Shane and I loved to watch the Fast and Furious movies together.

I was able to watch Mindy’s boys grow up through out the years and I could not imagine not being part of this foundation. I am grateful to be part of something that achieves what was in Shane’s heart. While I am proud to be part of this, I absolutely know nothing about fishing and I will never touch a worm.

I am a big fan of outdoor activities and a member of Ducks Unlimited, NRA, Oneida Rifle Club and current President of Madison County Trout Unlimited. I am also the lead instructor with the Trout Unlimited chapter for fly fishing and fly tying instruction. In the past I was involved with local stock car racing first as a mechanic and eventually a driver. I was awarded the first Golden Wrench award representing the Owego Speedway.

My grandson, Shane loved fishing. He had already taken a couple of young people from his school, that wanted to fish under his wing. He afforded them the opportunity to fish on a regular basis. Shane had a dream of helping more kids especially after he graduated from high school. He is gone from this earth but if I have anything to say or do about it, I will always have time and a place to make his dream a reality. A dream should become a reality and never die.

I am a former teacher and fishing partner of Shane. I jumped at the chance to help fulfill Shane’s dream when his grandfather came to me and asked for help. I love to garden in my free time.
