Learn to Fish/Fly Fish with CPF & MCTU

Cazenovia Preservation Foundation has teamed up with Madison County Trout Unlimited and the Shane Pinard Future Fisherman’s Foundation to host a fishing event at Fenner Conservation Pond.

This clinic is open to anyone of any age and ability. Depending on your interest, instructors will show you basic fishing or fly fishing techniques. You can bring your own rods and lures, or use the ones that we will have available.

4th Annual Shane Pinard Walleye Tournament

1. This is a 2 person per team limit walleye tournament. (2 people per boat)

2. Tournament will be held at A&P Marina in Cicero, NY. If more than 30 teams sign up, an alternate launch may be utilized.

3. Each team will fish from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and weight in up to a 5 walleye limit.

4. Teams will need to register at Lakeside Outfitters Bait Shop (Canastota)

5. Entry fee is $90 per team.

6. Entry fee is payable in CASH ONLY.

7. Boat will be assigned by a team name.

8. All cash payouts will be at least 90% of the entry fee.

9. Big fish pot will be called “THE SHANE PINARD MEMORIAL TROPHY” sponsored by The Walleye Militia and friends

10. Tournament waters will be Oneida Lake and its tributaries up to the first bridge. 11. Must fish out of a coast guard legal boat. You at no time can leave the boat.

12. Anglers must abide by NY state boating and fishing regulations.

13. Boats will be checked at launch between 5:30 am and 6:20 am tournament morning. 14. Teams will leave A&P Marina by shotgun start at 7am.

15. Teams will return to A&P Marina by 2 pm and must be in site of starter boat and off plane.

16. Any team bringing a walleye to the scales under the 15 in. length limit will be disqualified. 17. Score is based on total weight of 5 walleye. Any team with more than 6 walleye will be disqualified. 18. Any disputes must be brought to the attention of the tournament director (Adam Henderson) before the completion of the weigh-in. Tournament director’s decision will be final and binding upon all participants.

19. In the event that the tournament is cancelled, rescheduled or relocated before the start date of the tournament, due to weather, flooding, or location problems, anglers will be afforded a refund.

20. All participants in this tournament by their participation therein hereby authorize the Shane Pinard Future Fishermen’s Foundation to use both their name and any photographs of the participant for future tournament promotion, public relations and fund raising purposes.

21. There is no minimum separation distance between boats nor is there any particular code of conduct. However, anglers are strongly encouraged to be courteous to all other anglers fishing the tournament and other anglers not fishing in the tournament. You need to set a good example of ethical and courteous fishing behavior!

22. In the event that there is a tie for “Big Fish” the following rule will apply. The first place prize will be determined by the team with the biggest catch.

23. In the event that there is tie for first, second and third place for overall weight the following rule will apply. The teams that have tied will have their placement decided by the weight of their single heaviest fish. All ties below 3rd place will be combined and then split between the teams that have tied.

24. Weather- if a small craft advisory has been issued the tournament will be canceled. 25. Fish DO NOT have to be alive to be weighed in.

26. $20 buy in for biggest walleye by weight. Winner takes pot

27. No buy in for the biggest perch by weight. A prize will be awarded at the Foundations discretion.

Ice Fishing Seminar

Ice Fishing Seminar

Come join us as our foundation holds an Ice Fishing Seminar in cooperation with The Town Of Sullivan Parks and Recreation Committee! Maximum number of participants is set at 25 for grades 7-12 only, so get your kids signed up ASAP! There will be up to 10 volunteers who are proficient in ice fishing and ice safety to keep the kids safe and help with instruction as well as volunteer EMS on site. You can sign up directly through our website under our Community Involvement tab!

Seminar Content/Schedule is as follows:
-Before students arrive we will have tip ups already set up in hopes of flags going off.
- ½ hour safety demonstration in which ice safety will be discussed and Ice Creepers will be supplied by the foundation for safety while walking.
-½ hour to ¾ hour to have participants go with a volunteer and drill holes and set tip ups on the ice.
-When tip ups are set we will go back to shore and will be providing snacks
